BD4 FAQ / offline / readme

Here are a couple of message I sent to someone who's playing the PC version offline. These will do for this FAQ until I get time to write it...

I've checked the ticket in for you. If you have a direct internet connect
you can do the following:

1. Get online...

2. load the game pressing "cancel" to play offline

3. Press 'ticket manager' from the main menu.

4. Check out a ticket. Type in your name and password... and others if you
want more than one player on the ticket

5. Play offline all you like

6. Get back online, go to the ticket manager and press 'checkin'

7. Check out a new ticket...

DO NOT play on a ticket that's been checked in.... and you'll need to wait
about a minute for the ticket to be processed before you'll be allowed to
check another ticket out.

Hope this makes sense!!

And the second:

Subject: Ticket error.....

Hi again,

I just thought I should tell you something you already know. There's a
major bug which has just been reported. Basically the ticket does not load
a player properly, making them replay levels which they have already got
through on the ticket. This will be fixed very soon (when we get time).
Until then, sorry but you might want to check the ticket in when you get
through a level or two. Feel free to play earlier levels and improve high
scores if you can't get internet access.

And a simlar reply:

Yes, this is a bug and a very big one. We release the 'offline' version
about one year ago. The person who wrote this ticket mechanism made a
mistake regarding getting through level, hence when you load your ticket
the player is not adjusted correctly and hence is still only up to the
level they were when they checked out the ticket. Since most people I know
who played offline either checked their ticket in really often or were
already up to the last level this was not reported until JAN this year!!
The bug has been fixed and the new BeOS and UNIX versions work fine.
Unfortunately I have not had access to a compiler on a PC running Windows
for a while.... I hope to release a new PC version with more features
(like sound, manageable auto recording, support for new levels, etc)...
i.e. all the features on the BeOS version but potentially many more

Thanks for the message. I think this reply belongs on the FAQ!
