New Version Released: The new version, with the additional Reef and Mountain level sets was released at midday GMT on the 1st of December 2004. This notice might be here for a while (if I forget to remove it).
From this time you can download and play the new level sets (or play from the web pages). Good luck being the first to play there new levels.

Essentially the contents of the above debian package. It contains all that
is required for the Linux version. It is also needed for other UNIX versions
and the BeOS version. It also contains the Windows executable so if you want
multi-platform just get this one.

Step by step examples for playing
Below are step by step examples of how to download the game, create a
player and play either online, offline or behind a firewall. If these are
unclear or there is a case missing please mail me.
Case 1
You have free internet access and want to play bd4 online.
- Download the game for windows or UNIX (platforms outlined below).

Uncompress (unzip) the archive (also read the documentation if you like).
- For the windows version follow the ingame help, for UNIX type bd4

Case 2
You have unrestricted internet access (i.e. can access all internet
services and not just www) and want to play the WINDOWS VERSION of
bd4 offline.

Download the game for windows or UNIX.

Uncompress (unzip) the archive (also read the documentation if you like).
- Start the game while still online (by double clicking on the icon).
- Select OKAY (or similar) when the first dialogue box comes up
(to play ONLINE to create players).
- Select New Player to create a player (or repeat for
more than one players).
- Quit the game.
- Restart the game while still online (by double clicking on the icon).
- Select Cancel when the first dialogue box comes up (to play
offline).
- Use the ticketmanager to check out a ticket by entering the names and
password of the players that you want on the ticket. It is important to
realise that once you have a ticket you
must check it in before checking
another ticket out or you might damage your player record.
You may check the status of the players to make sure you have the ticket
akay.
- Disconnect from the internet if you like.
- Play the game by using Load Player to load players that are
on the current ticket.
You may quit the game and reload it if you like.... just press
Cancel when it first starts up to tell the game you want to player
offline.
Case 3You have unrestricted internet access (i.e. can
access all internet
services and not just www) and want to play the UNIX VERSION of
bd4 offline.

Download the game.

Uncompress (unzip) the archive (also read the documentation if you like).
- Start the game while still online and to create a New Player type
something like this:
bd4 newplayername newplayerpassword # Create player

Quit the game by pressing 'q' in the window (or control C). Then request a
ticket for the new player, i.e.
bd4 -g newplayername newplayerpassword # Get ticket

The game will start and you can now disconnect from the internet.
- You may now play the game offline. To restart just use the offline flag,
i.e.
bd4 -o newplayername newplayerpassword # Get ticket
Once the ticket has expired of you want to check in your high score (and
update your player etc) get back online and check the ticket in with a command
like this one.
bd4 -u newplayername newplayerpassword # Get ticket
Case 4You only have www internet access due to a firewall.
If you are not good at using computers get a better internet provider
otherwise follow these vague instructions and consult the
