It's funny to see how close the rankings are on two levelsets these days. For Tropical and Fruity, there is no more than 50 ranking points between 1st and 2nd rank!
Out of more than 60,000pts, this looks very small. I'm still ahead on those levelsets, but don't tell me I have a firm lead :

Hmmm. I'm on Tropical for the moment... and am not sure I have the reflexes or skills these days. Things go fluent for a while and then I just can't react in time (too much happening). I find I have to resort to pause once in a while which (for me) makes it less enjoyable and far less easy to play (stop start rather than go with the flow...).

Welcome back Wil!!! We've been expecting you. I don't think I could run straight if I didn't use the pause. It's pretty much automatic nowadays and most of my scores depend on it. Anyway, very nice to have you back : Tropical should get interesting.

Yeah, I've come to accept that. I try to play levels without using pause, but unless I invest a lot of time I inevitably use it on levels that require the precise execution of a plan for relief, composure and the likes. I still prefer the free flowing game and generally think it's more rewarding and helps tone better skills. I finally understand what DREAM means by the "up bug - which is a keyboard clash - namely when the up arrow and enter are down the 'p' does not register! Actually, I just tested it... on my laptop keyboard it's the case, but on my external keyboard it is not. Okay, so I will add configurable keys one day.

On the welcome back, I don't expect to play too much until October. I have two big events which I need to be very fit for in July (first and last weekends) and am then overseas for a couple of months. I'll play a little, but probably more Fruity than anything - at least to make the rankings respectable! I some cases I got by 1000 pointer and didn't go higher, leaving the score to whoever had it. In a few of those it won't be too hard to get second play (under seb) which is the most points gain.

I'm also using the pause key during most games. There are some complex moves that I can accomplish much more reliably in 2 steps than in one go.
There is also something with the pause that can be annoying: if you end a game moving in one direction, pause and press ESC to start a new game, the new game will start with the latest move of the previous game. Pretty annoying when repeating one game where each time tick counts.
Good luck with your competitions, Wil ! And also with the game :

I'M BACK! Thanks to an email from A YEAR AGO I noticed (lol) I remembered that BD4 is ON MY DESKTOP but I've had lots of computer issues and no time lately : Normally I just play freely without pausing much unless there is a much needed washroom trip but yea : Anyways, congrats on being like 50pts apart..I still dont' get that system. And Wil it's great to see you back! Off I go, I'll try my horribly out of date skills tonight : : :
