I started up again recently. Even got a #1 on Reef level 8. And started looking at Homelands 13 again--the mysterious 2300 scores still have me baffled. The ONLY way to do this is to kill about 8 bugs with a single grenade, and I see no way to make this happen.

I need to revise my last statement--the ONLY way to get 2300 on level 13 Homelands is to kill EVERY bug on the level with a single grenade. This assumes they line up just right so they overlap as little as possible to get as many gems as possible, but that they all touch. In other words, I am convinced that it is impossible. I think the guys who got 2300 somehow tricked the server...

I have been retired for a little while now, been busy working on my own version of emerald mines, a game called Fruity Caves. It's been on the go , on and off for a few years now, actually since the amiga days. Finally its almost finished, well a version that is playable and comes with and editor at least. The highscoring on the internet wont come out till i am happy with the way the game plays and has a few of the niggly things removed. Its not going to be as perfectly copied as Wil's BD4, but it wont be far off, and it has a few more items to play with, extra creatures, a few more objects like spawners, 4 slimes?????. It still has the basics Hard fruit instead of green gems, soft fruit instead of blue ones, Line bugs = yams, colourful butterflies are ya blue bugs and the blue butterflies are the grey robots, the robot has an equivalent Attractor, but the Attractor also has a partner a Repellor????? There are Dirtmakers and Dirteaters, Fruiteaters, Transformers and Spawners??????? It will be on PC only for a while and probably a long while, linux and macs may get a version in the future but no promises there. Anybody interested in being a Beta Tester and or Level Designer?

I'm not really here... been over east for the nationals (rogaining) which went not so well. DREAM... let's get this right!! Let's get the games compatible so the recorded games will get exactly the same scores, etc. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME... (hey, I've drunk a little so bear with me). If you have objects that vary you could add some to ensure complete compatibility, I know Steffest managed it mostly. I should be able to help provide source code and bits and pieces.... my main aim is to have competition over as consistent (logically) game rather than slight variations. My version is based on disassembling emeralkd mines with the random number generator the only difference (drand48 seeded by the time, and yes I have the source). The only other aveat is the slime which is asynchronous (random based on 8 frames rathern than at each tick boundary). anyway,. email, etc and we can sort this out.

Asarkila/cusack, yes, level 13 I do have recordings that test okay... but will not look at them unless I'm on my death bed.... it is possible, but I have no idea how.

If that means you have sent me email. I haven't gotten it yet. Difficult to say when you posted since I'm not sure what timezone is shown on this forum. This is a test for that also.
