Today I've released these forums that integrate into the bd4 web site. The look and feel is based on phpBB but the backend has been designed from scratch to suit the structure of the bd4 server and databases. The forums should allow people to discuss high scores, level techniquies, keep in touch with news and make feature requests.

A quick tutorial on messages.... you cannot add any html but can mark things up by using "tags" in square brackets. For example "open square bracket, B, close square bracket" will start bold text, ie bold text. Similar i is used for italics and u for underlined, similar for paragraphcs and line breaks.

Other "tags" require parameters which need to be entered before the closing square bracket and separated by spaces. The system is probably not very forgiving since I just hacked it out tonight. The best plan here is to only use the features you really need and to preview messages. Examples of tags with arguments include quotes which can have a player name or ID, e.g.
Quote (seb):
Call me Mister Chaos :)

Images and links to external sites can be added with "img" and "url" tags. Font colour and sizecan be changed using "colour" and "size" tags.

The other tags are for links within the bd4 web pages. They allow links to high scores, players and rankings.

Finally you can add smilies : ... using the javascript links is easiest here.

Have a play and report and major problems or requests.

Of course it would have been better if I'd created the "forum topics read" table. Alas, is there now. Also correcting some badly hacked out logic (mostly optimisations).
